CHINA, February 26, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – A 27-year-old woman in China has allegedly aborted 17 of her preborn children voluntarily in six years. 

Known as “Xiao Ju”, physicians told the young woman that her uterus had been so badly damaged by the procedures that she may now be unable to bear more children, according to the Shiyan Evening News. LifeSiteNews has been unable to independently verify the report.

Dr. Zhao Qin, who is chief of gynecology at Shiyan Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital in Hubei province of China, begged the woman to give birth to her latest preborn child rather than having it killed because it may have been her last opportunity to become a mother to a living child. Unfortunately, the prospective mother demanded the abortion, leaving abortionists to kill her baby. 

This was Xiao Ju’s seventeenth abortion in six years, having had her first at 21 years of age. That was when she began having relations with her male companion of six years, using abortion as her preferred method of “birth control.” She averaged about three abortions per year. 

Some women admit that they use abortion as a method of “birth control.” CNN reported in 2016 that abortion is the principal form of birth control among teen girls in China. LifeSiteNews reported that same year that many women in Cuba also use abortion as birth control. According to a 2016 report by the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, more than half of women who had abortions between 2008 and 2014 in the United States already had at least one child. 

According to a U.S. State Department report, approximately 23 million abortions are committed in China each year, besides millions more elsewhere in the world. In China, it is common for government authorities to compel women to have an abortion if they already have two living children. Babies produced by non-married couples are not issued official government ID, thus making them ineligible for state benefits and education. 

According to Ramah International, a ministry of author Synda A. Massé, the possible side effects and risks of surgical abortion include:

• A hole in the uterus (uterine perforation) or other damage to the uterus.
• Injury to the bowel or bladder.
• A cut or torn cervix (cervical laceration).
• Incomplete removal of the unborn child, placenta, or contents of the uterus requiring an additional operation.
• Complications from anesthesia, such as respiratory problems, nausea and vomiting, headaches, or drug reactions.
• Inability to get pregnant due to infection or complication from an operation.
• A possible hysterectomy as a result of complication or injury during the procedure.
• Hemorrhage (heavy bleeding).
• Emergency treatment for any of the above problems, including the possible need to treat with an operation, medicines, or a blood transfusion.
• Impact on Future Pregnancies:
• Vaginal bleeding during early pregnancy
• Preterm birth
• Low birth weight
• Placenta problems, such as retained placenta
• An incompetent cervix poses risks for future pregnancies — particularly during the second trimester — including: premature birth, pregnancy loss. In such cases, surgery might be needed to repair the damage before a woman can conceive another child.
• A weakened or damaged cervix can lead to the potential for the cervix to open prematurely (incompetent cervix) in a subsequent pregnancy. This is more likely to affect women who have had multiple surgical abortions.

In addition, many women experience emotion and psychological trauma after submitting to an abortion.
